Why is Telecommunications Cooperatives more suitable in rural areas?

On August 4, 1969, rural electrification in the Philippines began under President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., who declared national electrification a priority. He established Electric Cooperatives to provide reliable, low-cost electricity, emphasizing the non-profit nature of these cooperatives. The US government supported this initiative with a $3.5 million loan, which helped launch the successful rural electrification program on a national scale. TELECOOP draws a parallel, believing that the development of Telecommunications Cooperatives can similarly address technological infrastructure barriers across the country.
